Rainy Day Ruby Card and Goal Updates

Many of you know that my friend Shaela loves yellow umbrellas. :)  I made this card for her, since her first card got lost in the mail.  While I was up in Vancouver a few weeks ago, Thanh and I actually bought Shaela a real yellow umbrella.  I can't wait to give it to her, since I know she'll be SUPER excited about it!!

I actually colored her first, then picked paper to match.  The card is much brighter in real life and I love how it came out!  Being back on my later I'm not carpooling with Brent anymore, it's been nice to have more time to craft and not feeling so tired!  I truly hope this means much more blog posts. :)

Brent's department is moving to a new building next Monday, so I've decided to go back to working later hours.  I'm not a morning person at all!!  Only being back on my old schedule for a week, it's been wonderful.  I feel so much more rested.  The only thing I don't look forward to is paying for gas again, lol.

It's the beginning of the month and it's time to check in with my goals.Over all, I feel like I haven't gotten that much done in April.  I was so busy getting ready to leave and then gone on vacation, there was my month.  I've come to realization that my life isn't going to get any calmer, so I'm working on ways to do things more efficiently.  We'll see how it goes...

  • Assistant Manager Workshop
  • Vault Teller Training - Canadian
  • Technical Writing Class
No progress in any of these big projects yet.  But I've been busy with Washington Payday Loans, mSAT (software), and Repossession processes for Title Loans.

Sparkle Creations
  • Get new wholesale accounts
  • Sales goal for each month - January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December
  • More efficient in costs
  • Teach card classes
I updated and changed the store and blog links.  I also updated the look of the store a little bit and got a blog makeover.  I'm now working on re-stocking the store and getting my inventory up.

  • Take Yoga classes
  • More efficient in costs - January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December
  • Project Life
  • Utilize my iPhone
  • Visit my mom's grave
The only thing I did this last month was keep up with my couponing.  For the month of April, I spent $129.64, about $20 less than my monthly budget.  I saved $130.91 with store savings and coupons.  So, that's like getting $260 of groceries for $130.  I'm pretty happy to be at that 50% savings mark.  This also includes my produce, which I don't save anything on.

While we were in Mexico, we (the whole Smith family) did go grocery shopping at Walmart.  I cringed the whole time that we were paying full price, mark-up from being tourists.  They were selling paperbacks for $12 USD!!  Brent ran out of sunscreen and we had to pay $16 for one bottle.  On the flight home, some lady said she caved and went to buy more books at Walmart and my MIL and I just started laughing so hard.

I thought bringing my iPad and iPhone would be less for me to carry, but I regret not bringing at least one paperback with me.  The guy next to me on the plane was reading on his iPad and as soon as they told us to turn off our electronics, he whipped out a paperback.  Smart guy, lol.  Plus, it would of been nice to have a paperback on the beach.  Then I wouldn't have to worry about it getting wet, sand on it, or someone taking it.

Well, I hope you all have a lovely Thursday!

  1. Love the card - I'm sure it will be even prettier in person! And I have to admit, I totally screamed (and scared Audrey, haha) when I read about the umbrella - SOOOOO excited!! :) Kudos on your goals, too - I have been totally slacking in the couponing department but I need to get back into it.

  2. This is darling, Sparks! Love the bright, happy colors!

  3. What a beautiful card--LOVE your coloring and that ribbon! I really need to get this image too! YOU always inspire me:)

Glad you had a great month of couponing! And as for paying full price in Mexico--sometimes you have to do that! No worries--you learned your lesson:)

  4. Beautiful card Sparkle!! Too cool that you found a yellow umbrella for Shaela!

Thanks for visiting my blog! I truly appreciate you taking the time to read and comment! Love, Sparks
