SCRS Challenge #58 - Anything But a Card and Bookworm Ruby Bookmark

Before I get to today's challenge, I just wanted to let you all know that Aki (our wonderful and fabulous illustrator) has a new fan page on Facebook!  Once she hits 50 likes, I'll be giving away a free stamp!  Please come by and show her some Sparkle Creations love!

*This is my 2nd post for today.  Please click here or scroll down to see my Ribbon Carousel Challenge post.*

This week's challenge is anything but a card!  Check out the SCRS blog to see the rest of the DT's darling creations!  My team went way above this week with their projects!

Our challenge is open to all players. Each week a random winner will be chosen, and this week's winner will receive the adorable Hula Girl Lucy rubber stamp. In order to qualify for a prize, you must use a Sparkle Creations image on your creation.  Most importantly, have fun! We can't wait to see your creations!

I suck at 3D projects, lol.  And sadly to say, this is my first corner bookmark I've ever made!  I don't do flat very well either...but since I want it to be practical, I resisted the urge to use my pop dots and Prima flowers. :)  I think I will be making more of these in the near future.

Paper: Basic Grey Oxford
Stamps: Bookworm Ruby
MS Border Punch, Copics, Pearls, and Nestabilities

Are you ready to play along?  To play along in our challenge, please upload a photo of your project to the new SCRS gallery. Here is the direct link to entries for this week's challenge: Sparkle Creations Photo Gallery > SCRS Challenges > Challenge #58. If you haven't registered yet, it just takes a few seconds to create a login and upload your photo. Deadline for this week's challenge is Sunday, September 4th @ 9 PM PST.

I hope you all have a great Tuesday!

Surfing Oliver and Project 29 Catch Up!

Last Friday while I was at Impress, I got the newest Basic Grey paper.  As you can tell, it didn't take me very long to break into them.  This pack will probably tend to be more girly, but I just love the bright and warm colors!  I also used Sketches by Carly #38 for this.

Paper: BG Indie Bloom
Stamps: SCRS Surfing Oliver, sentiment is A Muse (retired)
Pearls, Rhinestones, Copics, and Nestabilities

Don't forget...all the Oliver stamps are only on sale until Friday!  Plus there's still plenty of time to play in our challenge this week! Click here or above on the Sparkle Creations Store link to start shopping now!
Um...it's almost September and I haven't shown you ANY August pictures, lol.  I really need to get with it!  I've been so busy personally, with Sparkle Creations, and my day job!  I can't believe that fall is right around the corner.

With me doing my Project 29, I think people are getting tired of getting their picture taken, lol.  But hey, if you hang with me...you're going into my album!  I'm missing pictures of Yvonne's birthday and our 5K that we did.  But here are a few more pictures that I do have for this month.
This was my normal weekend to meet up with my craft group.  We were also celebrating Yvonne's birthday as well.  Kelly took us to a great Greek restuarant for dinner and the food was delicious!
Peggy came down from Canada and it was great to meet her!  We took her and Aileen to Impress and then we went out for Thai food.  After the restaurant people wanted us out, we migrated to Starbucks, lol.  We had such a wonderful time and I can't wait to see Peggy again in October when we both go to Langley, BC.
Laurel, another fellow Canadian and CTMH buddy, also came down to Seattle for the weekend.  I met up with her and her hubby for dinner at Hard Rock Cafe.  Though it's been a long time since I left CTMH, the one thing I am very grateful for are all the wonderful friends I made.  It's always so much fun to meet my fellow crafters in real life!

I won't be back on here til Monday...but I will have lots to share when I come back.  I'm spending 2 days with the lovely Kim Hughes - one at Impress and the other at Ellen Hutson.  I'll also be with Becky Olson, Teri Anderson, Lisa Johnson, Heidi Van Larr, Amy Tsuruta, Tiffany Johnson, and a few others!  I feel like I get to play with the cool kids, lol.  Everyone have a fabulous weekend!

SCRS August Previews - Football Josh

Today we are showing previews of Football Josh!  Though I didn't use them in my card, this stamp comes with two sentiments, "Go Team Go" and "Touchdown."  All new stamps will be available on Saturday, July 13th.

As most of you know, Brent and I went to rival colleges and we have fun with our rivalry.  The day of the Civil War is the only day of the year that we don't actually speak to each other, lol.  That's the day the line is completely divided between us.

Fortunately for me, Basic Grey has made paper packs with both of our school colors!  I was so excited to make this Ducks card  with Football Josh for Brent.  I also used Sweet Sketch Sunday #128 for this.

Paper: BG Origins
Stamps: SCRS Football Josh
MFT Star Dies, Felt, Copics, Nestabilities, BG Brads, and Thickers

Botanical Blooms Sympathy Cards

{Today we are showing sneak peeks of Karber Shopping Millie.  Head over to the SCRS blog for a chance to win her!}

Ever since I got my Copics in December 2007, I've put solid stamping on the back burner.  In that time, I also stopped being a CTMH consultant.  But for whatever reason, I just couldn't let go of my precious ink pads.  Lately, I've been collecting the spots of SU colors and will soon have their whole color set.

If you know me well...you know this is one of my favorite paper sets.  I'm sorry to bring out the tissue again, but I'm still mourning the lost of Kiwi Kiss.  I truly hope that Lucky Limeade will be able to fill this void, lol.

Paper: SU Urban Garden (retired)
Stamps: A Muse Bursting Blooms (retired), sentiment is A Muse Loving Memories
PTI Ribbon, Pearls, and EK Success Border Punch

Solid stamping is one of those secret goals that I've had and I'm glad I finally got the opportunity to jump back into this.  Unfortunately, one of our co-workers lost her fiance last week.  Sympathy cards are never easy to make, but I do hope she finds a little comfort in mine and Brent's gesture.  She was a District Manager during our stint in Denver and actually moved to Seattle about the same time Brent and I did.  Brent did work in her district before coming to the Corporate office.

Paper: SU Urban Garden
Stamps: A Muse Botanical Gardens 2, sentiment is A Muse Loving Memory
Pearls, Crystal Stickles, EK Success Border Punch and PTI Ribbon

There are 3 types of cards I keep in my limited stash.  Birthday (for when Brent asks me the night before {ugh}, lol), Thank You, and Sympathy.  Since I believe death comes in sets, I have added a few more cards to my stash.  I was once told it's a bad omen to create a sympathy card before they past...but if you call me in the middle of the night and I have to fly somewhere...you'd be getting a cheap store-bought card!

Anyhoo- I hope you all have a wonderful hump day!  I hope Jeff wins the veto tonight!

SCRS Challenge #55 - Inspiration Photo and Shopping Emily Card

This week's challenge is an inspiration photo.  Use the photo to inspire your creation!  Check out the SCRS blog to see the actual inspiration photo and the rest of the DT's darling creations!

Our challenge is open to all players. Each week a random winner will be chosen, and this week's winner will receive the adorable Bicycle Chloe rubber stamp. In order to qualify for a prize, you must use a Sparkle Creations image on your creation. Most importantly, have fun! We can't wait to see your creations!

I kindof cheated for this challenge, lol.  Yesterday was my friend Amy's birthday...and I knew I wanted to make this for her.  I kindof picked paper and colored my image before looking at the photo.  So, the only relation I have to this card and the photo is that it looks like it's set up for a fun summer party, lanterns and all! :)

Well, if you know Amy, you know she has awesome ninja shopping skills!.  So I knew immediately I needed to use Shopping Emily for her birthday card this year.  Typical me, she'll be getting her card hopefully today...but it helps that she only lives 5 minutes away from me.  I can't wait to see her later this month at Impress.  I also used Deconstructed Sketch #13 for this.

Paper: BG Life of the Party
Stamps: SCRS Shopping Emily, sentiments are A Muse and AmyR
MFT Flower Die, Pearls, Crystal Stickles, Sizzix Flourish Die, and Copics

I even decorated the inside to match!  I had such a hard time photographing this though.  It may seem backwards, but from now on I think I will do the inside first, take photos, and then add the card front, lol.

To play along in our challenge, upload a photo of your project and provide a direct link in the linky widget at the bottom of the SCRS post. If you use an online gallery (e.g. Splitcoast), please also use the Keywords SCRSC55 and SparkleCreations (no spaces). If you have a Facebook account and are a fan of Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps, you can also upload there. Deadline for this week's challenge is Sunday, August 14th @ 9 PM PST.

***While we are still transitioning, you are also more than welcome to upload your card to the SCRS Photo Gallery.  All you have to do is register on the site and start uploading!  Please upload your entries to Sparkle Creations Photo Gallery > SCRS Challenges > Challenge #55.***

I hope you all have a great Tuesday!  Sneak peeks for the August release start tomorrow!
