Halloween SALE and Broomstick Lucy

Just in case you missed it on the SCRS blog, all of my fall stamps are 25% off, making them $6 each. I only have a limited quantity of Broomstick Lucy and once she's gone, she won't be available again til next fall. So hurry and get her while you still can. The sale will run through the end of Halloween.

I wanted to surprise some friends with Halloween cards today, so here is one of them.  Though this image is mine, I used the Little Paper Shop Challenge #91 for this.  I finally got more air for my airbrush, so I was happy to get some background color in.

Paper: Basic Grey Eerie
Stamps: Sparkle Creations, sentiment is Amuse
Pearls, Nestabilities, PTI Buttons, Twine, CTMH Ribbon, Copics, and Crystal Stickles

I will be back tomorrow with one last Halloween card.  I hope you all have a fabulous Friday!  It's almost the weekend!

Noel Snowbunnyabella Card and Book Review: 61 Hours

I have a good size stack of colored images sitting on my craft table...and I haven't used them for cards.  So I'm trying to be good and actually use them up.  I must admit, making this clas was really quick since I didn't have to do any coloring. :)  I also used Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #97 for this.

Paper: Basic Grey Jovial
Stamps: Stamping Bella, sentiment is PTI
Nestabilities, Copics, Rhinestones, Crystal Stickles, and PTI Ribbon

Last week while we were at Costco, I saw this book and since it was cheap, I got it.  I've never read any of the previous books from this series (Jack Reacher novels), but overall the book was good.  I wasn't too happy with the ending...as I felt like I was missing some parts or information.  But since I haven't read the other books, I'm sure theres things that have been said along the way about the main character and I just don't know, lol.

This is your typical suspense, murder, and thriller.  A local woman witnesses a major drug deal and is going to trial to bust these guys from Mexico.  The police has 7 officers with her at all times around the clock, but they think there's a dirty cop.  Unfortunately, the witness doesn't live to make it to trial, but they do get the bad guys in the end.

Everyone have a great hump day!  I will actually be at the Training Center today.  Very excited to meet our new trainers for our Las Vegas and Vancouver, BC!

SCRS Challenge #16 - Inspiration Challenge, Cocktail Emily Card, and Meeting Thanh

Today's challenge is an inspiration challenge.  Isn't this bed set just gorgeous?!?  Don't forget to check out the Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps blog to see the full size picture and the rest of the DT's lovely creations!

Our challenge is open to all players. Each week a random winner will be chosen, and this week's winner will receive the Elf Oliver rubber stamp. In order to qualify for a prize, you must use a Sparkle Creations image on your creation. Most importantly, have fun! We can't wait to see your creations!

I know that red and green are complimentary colors, but I love them together.  I decided not to do a Christmas card...though I do think Emily is festive enough to be one, lol.  I used my white gel pen for the polka dots on the umbrella to match the paper.  I also used Sweet Sunday Sketch # 90 for this.

Paper: Cosmo Cricket Mitten Weather
Stamps: Sparkle Creations, sentiment is Amuse
White Gel Pen, Copics, Rhinestones, EK Success Border Punch, Prima Flowers, and Crystal Stickles

On Saturday, I met up with Thanh at Bellevue Square.  Being there, I was able to take her to Impress and Paper Source.  She is such a sweet gal and we had a great time hanging out.  Next time we get together, hopefully we'll actually have time to craft! :)

To play along in our challenge, upload a photo of your project and provide a direct link in the linky widget at the bottom of the SCRS post. If you use an online gallery (e.g. Splitcoast), please also use the Keyword SCRSC16. If you have a Facebook account and are a fan of Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps, you can also upload there. Deadline for this week's challenge is Sunday, October 31st @ 9 PM PST.

Everyone have a great Tuesday!  I totally think the black team threw the weigh in to get Patrick!

Flashback Friday Challenge 4.0 - First Christmas Snowbunnybella Card

This month's challenge is to post the first Christmas card that you blogged. Well, I decided to just pull the first Christmas card from here and not try to hunt back years on Livejournal.  Somewhere on my old computer I know I have old, old CTMH cards, lol.

Here is my card with Snowbunny Bella from September 2008.  I'll confess...the picture was really bad, so I photoshoped it to make it a smidge better, lol.  It's still horrible...

Good thing to note...I'm at least still using my old stamps. :)  It's amazing how much we grow in just 2 years time.  Though, I must make a mental note to use my liquid applique more often.  And Figgy Pudding was a great BG paper pack!

Everyone have a great Monday...it's back to work for me!  And Hawaii 5-0 is on tonight!

Sing Hope and Grace for My Mom

This is gonna be a sad post today...so I'm starting with my fun news first.  I'm meeting Thanh today!  She's visiting from Vancouver, BC and I'm very excited to get to finally meet her!  She does fabulous work, so you'll have to check out her blog.

Today is my mom's 6th anniversary of passing.  If you're newer to my blog, I wrote {this post} last year and it shares the whole story about what happened.  My mom was born, raised, and buried in Hilo, Hawaii, so I always make a Hawaiian themed card in her remembrance.

Paper: DCWV Tahiti Beach
Stamps: TGF, sentiment is Amuse
PTI Flover Dies, Felt, PTI Buttons, Twine, Copics, MS Border Punch, Pearls

I told my dad that I wanted to go back to Hawaii for my 30th birthday (April 2012), so I think we're all gonna go as a family.  It'll be a bittersweet trip...but having Michael and Emily's smiling faces with me will definitely make it a lot easier.  Sweet bread from Low International Food is what I always look forward to the most!  Their rainbow has been my favorite since I was a baby.

Lastly, Sparkle Creations is sponsoring Etsy Inspired today.  If you participate in their challenge this week, you could win a $15 store credit and everyone who participates will get a 10% off code to the store.  Good luck and I can't wait to see what you all make.

I hope you all have a great Saturday!  Take the time to tell all your loved ones that you love them dearly!

Tricks and Treats Broomstick Lucy

Today is Freebie Friday at Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps.  I've been wanting to make these fun felt spiral flowers for awhile now and found a great, easy tutorial from my friend Yvonne.  Don't forget to check out the SCRS blog for the tutorial and a chance to win Cruisin' Chloe!

Paper: Basic Grey Eerie
Stamps: Sparkle Creations, sentiment is Amuse
Felt, Pearls, Copics, Crystal Stickles, and Rhinestones

I had some questions about my post yesterday, so I wanted to post some quick answers. I typically craft at night, so I don't really get the chance to take pictures with natural light. I have a 75 wat bulb in my lamp. It's pretty bright and intense, but I usually only have it on for a few minutes while I'm photographing.

I always take pictures with the flash off. The lamp typically gives enough light to do that. Plus, I always take pictures with the macro function on to get all of the details. It's so bad now that when I turn it off, I think 'normal' pictures are blurry, lol.

I will work on instructions for PS, but I can't promise that it will come any time soon. It's almost Manager's Conference time for my day job, so until that's over, I will be extremely busy.  But I hope you all have a fabulous Friday!  It's almost the weekend!

Happy Holidays Daisyboardabella Card and How I Take Photographs

I have a secret confession...this is my favorite winter Bella stamp.  I don't like snow...coldness...or snowboarding, lol.  But I just {heart} Miss Daisyboard.  I was feeling festive when I made her and went with traditional red and green.

Paper: Memory Box Tinsel
Stamps: Stamping Bella, sentiment is Impress
MS Border Punch, Copics, Snowflake Punch, Crystal Stickles, Rhinestones, and BG Brads

People always ask how I take great photos.  My secret...I have fabulous Photoshop skills.  No joke.  I'm really not that great at photography and I will show you my ghetto setup, lol.

First off...I only have a Sony Cybershot that Brent bought me for my birthday years ago.  So yeah, not a great camera, lol.  Since this is my 5 year anniversary with Moneytree and I will be getting a service award bonus, I actually plan on buying a Cannon Rebel XSi.  :)

Second off, this is what my craft desk looks like...pardon my mess.  Yes, I painted my wall green this last summer.  Once I finish putting my room together, I will post pictures.  As you can see, my set up consists on 2 Amuse tins that are filled with Copics, a cheap lamp I bought at Target, 2 pieces of cardstock, and 1 small jar, which you can't see because it's behind my card.

Here is a close up of how I actually take my photo. It still looks pretty sad, eh?  I typically crop and size down my pictures to about 480 x 550 pixels or so.

Once I open the file in Photoshop, I usually do the Auto setting for tone and color.  Then I bump up the Brightness til the white paper in the background looks white.  I always use the Sharpen tool so you can see the glitter better.  Then I Feather the edges and add my watermark.  If my picture is crooked, I usually tilt it til it looks straight.

For my day job, we use CS4, so that is the version of Photoshop that I am using.  I bought Elements for my home desktop and I don't like it as much -- but I think it's just because I'm used to having all the features, lol.  If you actually want to know how to edit in PS, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Everyone have a fabulous Thursday!  Grey's and Private Practice are on tonight!

Winter Coffee Kiki Card

I know this isn't really a holiday image, but I do love nontraditional cards.  Doesn't this just make you want to snuggle up with a good book?  While I was cleaning up my craft room, I found these flair buttons from American Crafts that I bought 2 years ago, lol!  It's amazing what you can find in your own room, eh?  Anyhoo- it matched my card perfectly, so happy to finally break into these.

Paper: Cosmo Cricket Mitten Weather
Stamps: CC Designs, sentiment is Amuse
American Crafts Flair, Copics, Snowflake Punch, PTI Buttons, Twine, MS Border Punch, CTMH Bigger Brads, and Crystal Stickles

I also used Sweet Sunday Sketch #89 for this.  I hope you all have a fabulous hump day!

Well, I have family in Hawaii and Aki lives in New Zealand...which mean it's summer during Christmas. My friend at work gave me these cute Santa hats and I knew they would be perfect for this.  And who says Santa can't surf anyways?  Wouldn't it be awesome to really only work 1 day out of the year?  I also used Unscripted Sketches #77 for this.

Today's challenge is to use 2 pieces of patterned paper, 1 stamp, and bling. Warm Winter Wishes From Vivi

I went shopping yesterday during my lunch...and I got Cosmo Cricket's Mitten Weather and Memory Box's Tinsel.  I'm still on the look out for maybe one or two more packs, but I'm sure by the time I go to CKC, I will see lots of paper! :)  I also got lucky and found Labels 16.  I can't wait to play with my new Nesties.

So here's another one (actually 3) to add to my pile.  I'm about half way done for the year since I haven't really made cards since spring.  And I had a minor craft crisis...I ran out of red thread.  So I must make time to go to Joann's and get more.  Unfortunately, the consequence for that is no stitching on my card.

Paper: Basic Grey Jovial
Stamps: TGF, sentiment is Amuse
American Crafts Brads, Crystal Stickles, Copics, MS Border Punch, Snowflake Punch, PTI Buttons, and Twine

Well, I hope you all have a fabulous Saturday!  I will be cleaning up and re-arranging my craft room.  Don't forget to come back tomorrow for our Christmas Card Challenge.  Dawn McVey is our Guest Designer this week!

Waving Hello Suitcase Ruby

Today it's Freebie Friday at Sparkle Creations. Check out the SCRS blog for this fun flower tutorial and a chance to win Broomstick Lucy!

Well, you all know how much I just love my Prima flowers.  So when I found this tutorial on Splitcoast, I was totally ecstatic.  I used 4 flowers to make each one and I decided to use different colors and make them two-toned.  I love how they turned out!

Paper: Pink Paislee Bayberry Cottage
Stamps: Sparkle Creations, sentiment is Kraftin' Kimmie
Prima Flowers, Copics, MS Border Punch, and Crystal Stickles

It was Kim's birthday just the other day, so here is my belated card for her.  I am really good at making them...but I just can't ever seem to get anything mailed on time, lol.

I hope you all have a great Friday!  Don't forget, to enter for the free stamp, you must comment on the SCRS blog, not here.  It's almost the weekend! :)

P.S. for you locals...Impress has everything in the store 10% off today and tomorrow.

Joyous Snowbunnybella Card

I'm trying really hard to catch up on my Christmas cards, so I've been coloring and stamping furiously!  And no Christmas season can go without my classic Snowbunnybella.

I'm in the market for more 6x6 Christmas paper...have any favorite brands? I know Pink Paislee is releasing theirs on the 15th. I still love my Basic Grey paper, but just thought it would be fun to have a bit of variety.

Paper: Basic Grey Jovial
Stamps: Stamping Bella, sentiment is PTI
Snowflake Punch, PTI Buttons, Twine, Crystal Stickles, Nestabilities, and Copics

I hope you all have a lovely hump day!

Christmas Card Challenge #45 - Sketch Challenge

Yesterday's challenge was a sketch challenge.  Since I was with one of my craft groups on Saturday and then went to the movies, I didn't quite get my card done in time.  But don't forget to check out the Christmas Card Challenges blog to see the actual sketch and the rest of the DT's lovely cards.

Stamps: CC Designs, sentiment is Amuse
Snowflake Punch, PTI Buttons, Twine, Crystal Stickles, MS Border Punch, Nestabilities, and Copics

I really liked the Social Network, but I went in knowing what was true and what wasn't.  But I still thought it was great, funny, and very entertaining.  I started my Facebook account back when I was a student at Oregon State and at that time Facebook was still only for students.  And I found it amusing that they were blogging on Live Journal, which is how I started blogging so many years ago. :)  So it was neat to be able to relate back to my college years as I was part of that era.  It does make me feel old though, lol.

Well, I hope you all have a great Monday...it's back to work for me!  And Hawaii 5-0 tonight!

Today is our 3rd day of sneak of peeks and we're showcasing Rin and Snowman. All of the new stamps will be available on Saturday, October 9th.  Don't forget to check out the Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps blog to see more from the Design Team.

Out of all of them, this image is my favorite.  You can't see, as I cut the image short to fit, but I love that Aki kept her stilted shoes.  I used our sketch from this week's challenge for this and making Christmas cards again actually motivated me to update our Christmas card list.

Okay, I flipped the sketch upside down and this is what I got. I kindof cheated since I wanted all of Josh to fit in, but overall it works, lol.  I'm excited to finally dive into my Jovial paper!
