A Little Break and Some Reminders

Okay, I'm gonna be a bad blogger this week...

I'm leaving today to go back to Portland. Tomorrow night is Brent's high school reunion. I originally planned on getting a ton of things done and had hoped to play along with more of the challenges that I'm sponsoring this week.  Unfortunately life and my day job have gotten in the way and I have nothing to show ya, lol.

But the good news is...once I get back, on Monday...we'll be starting sneak peeks for my Christmas release!  So any orders placed in the store from now and through the weekend will be shipped on Monday, October 4th.

Don't forget, today is the last day to participate in the Operation Write Home Birthday Bash challenge.  All you have to make is a fall card.  I'm still sponsoring 365 Cards for the rest of the week, so I hope you enjoy playing along with them and seeing the DT's lovely cards!

And I haven't forgotten...I'll be doing my October album, so I'll eventually post pictures for that once I get back home!  Everyone have a lovely weekend and see ya on Monday!

Sadly, today is my last day as a Guest Designer. Though my summer was crazy busy, I'm so happy I got to be a part of the team for a bit. Since Mermaid Jena is my favorite, of course I had to use her for my last challenge.  I love her in these lovely fall colors.

Flashback Friday Challenge - First Challenge Card

My friend Amy started these fun challenges and I'm finally getting the guts to play along, lol. This challenge is to post your first challenge card.  I started as a Close To My Heart Consultant, so Splitcoast Stampers didn't become a big thing for me until I discovered my addiction, Bella. :)

I purged my old Splitcoast account (sparkplug17) and started over as Sparkle Creations, since I opened my store.  Luckily, I found this in photobucket.  This was way before I even knew what Copics were, lol.  I colored this in with CTMH markers.  Blingabella was one of the first 5 Bellas I got in my first order.

Things to note:
  1. I still love stamps that say my name!
  2. I still love bling and glitter!
  3. I still love basic grey paper!
  4. I still love flowers!
  5. This was pre-sewing machine days...I almost always sew on my cards now.
Guess I haven't changed that much from my starting days, lol...and ironically, the last time I used this stamp, I made a card for Amy when she got engaged.  I've come a long ways, eh?

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and see you all back on Monday!  I will return emails and be back to blog commenting once I get back from Portland!

Mr. and Mrs. Hitchedafellabella Wedding Card

Tonight Brent and I are going down to Portland for one of Brent's friend's wedding. All orders placed in the store this weekend will ship out on Monday!

Paper: Basic Grey Green at Heart
Stamps: Stamping Bella, sentiment is Amuse
Prima Flowers, Copics, Pearls, and PTI Buttons

These are Brent's friends from high school, so I don't know them that well.  Plus, boys don't talk wedding details like girls do, lol...so I just went off of the wedding invitation and hope that they like the card I made!  I love bright colors...but sorry - I do have to be a bit snobby and say while they're cute, it's not appropriate for a fall wedding.  I'm a matchy, matchy type...sorry again...please don't throw tomatoes at me. :)

The one thing I am super excited about is seeing the little ones.  Gotta love spending time with my little brother and sister.  I won't have anything new til Monday, but hang in there, it's gonna be an action packed for the next 2 weeks!

Operation Write Home Birthday Bash and Farming Oliver Card

Operation Write Home celebrated their 2nd anniversary on September 12th and they're celebrating all month!  Today Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps is hosting a challenge for you to make a card for Operation Write Home. OWH sends blank handmade cards for them to send home to their loved ones and please check the card requirements on the OWH blog, first, as there are some guidelines that must be followed.  You can see those guidelines here.

The challenge is pretty easy...make any new fall card.  All players and all stamp manufactures are welcome for this challenge.  You will have until next Thursday, September 30th to enter into the contest.  I will randomly draw one winner and that person will win a $20 credit to Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps.

Also, for everyone who participates, will get 10% off any purchases made within the next week.  After you have linked your card to the Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps blog, you can use the discount code on your next purchase.

For my card, I decided to do something a little out of the box.  I used my new Jovial paper for this.  Though the black overalls made my image quite dark, I love how non-traditional this came out.  Also, I'll admit...I always use glitter on my cards and since one of the rules is that we can't, I purposely made a guy card for this, lol.

Paper: Basic Grey Jovial
Stamps: Sparkle Creations, sentiment is PTI
PTI Buttons, Copics, and Bigger Brads

I'm lucky enough to live near to Sandy (who runs OWH) and I've been to a few of the card making parties here in town.  I thought I would share some pictures.  I'm really excited and blessed to be part of such a wonderful celebration.

It's been fun to get together with all of these ladies and do something for a great cause.  I'm looking forward to going to many more card making parties in the future.

Good luck to everyone and can't wait to see what you all make!  I hope you all have a lovely Thursday!  Grey's and Private Practice are on tonight!

Tomorrow I have a very special challenge going on, so you won't want to miss it!  And Grey's comes back on!  So excited! :)

Pixie Cottage Challenge #37 - Fun and Games

This week's challenge is Fun and Games. Don't forget to check out the Pixie Cottage blog to see the sketch and the rest of the DT's lovely creations.  As a child, I loved to go to the park and swing.  So, I thought this image of Hannah would be perfect for this challenge.

Nada...Nothing...

Hello, hello.  I'm sorry...but the bad news is that I don't have anything planned for today.  The good news is that I'm giving away a free stamp today on the Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps blog.

I've been training a class all week for my day job...and the Christmas release just came the other day.  Brent and I have been furiously catching up on our shows and cutting rubber!  I'm so excited for the October release, you all will be so joyous, lol.

Also, my new mini binder from Russell and Hazel just came in the mail!  Kelly Purkey talked about doing a mini album for October and I'm gonna play along with her.  I hadn't been following her blog long enough when she did her other one in April...but I don't want to miss out this time.  I'm actually excited about it, because unlike my Daily December albums...I actually think I will get this one done.

You have until midnight on Sunday to comment for a chance to win Suitcase Ruby.  I will draw a winner when I draw a winner for SCRS Challenge #10.  Don't forget, you must comment on the Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps blog, NOT HERE.

Today is going to be a bittersweet day.  My co-worker Josh, got a new job in Washington, DC.  His wife is doing her Masters out there and he stayed back here in Seattle until he found a job.  It's his last day and we're doing a good-bye lunch for him.  I'm really sad to be losing my coffee break buddy. :(

I hope you all have a fabulous Friday!  It's almost the weekend!  Yeah!

Okay, no on to the book.  This book is about 2 best friends and one wasn't able to have children, so the best friend gave her eggs to have in-vitro fertilization done.  Years later, it comes to find out that the best friend has a kidney disease and it is hereditary.  She is scared that she gave her best friend a child who may become sick later in life.

The one who wasn't able to have children, her husband is a police man and gets shot while in the line of duty.  He actually dies from a brain aneurysm, as they couldn't get all of the bullet particals out of him.  Overall, the book was pretty good.  It's really just about everyday life, the struggles of health, and keeping a family together.

This book was actually very sad for me, as most of you know that my own mother had kidney failure and died from a brain aneurysm in 2004.  But I would still recommend the book to anyone who likes to read Jodi Picoult's books.  It's written in the same style and has all the different character's view points.

Well, I hope you all have a lovely Monday!  Though it's back to work for me...I'm actually teaching a class this week.

Release Day and Farming Oliver Previews

All new fall stamps are now available!  Click here to start shopping now!  Thank you for all the fabulous comments on Lucy...Brent really appreciates them too. :)

My new Basic Grey paper came on Tuesday...it's about time, lol. So I just had to open and cut into it right away!  I colored in Oliver's overalls and hat with my B97 Copic marker and then took a piece of denim and put some colorless blender on it.  Then I pressed it against the blue to get it texturized.

Sparkle Creations Broomstick Lucy Previews

We are showcasing Broomstick Lucy today, which will be available for purchase on Saturday, Sept. 11th, 2010.  Out of all of my characters, Lucy is Brent's favorite. :)  Isn't it cute that my hubby actually has a fav?  He was pretty disappointed that Lucy didn't make it into the Christmas release (which will be in Oct.), lol.

I decided to have a little bit more fun with Lucy and gave her green witch hair.  Though I promise that Lucy is a good witch.  It reminds me of Bewitched and watching re-runs on Nick at Nite with my mom.  This started out as this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #84, but you can see that I altered it a bit.
