SCRS Challenge #8 - Inspiration Challenge and Lantern Rin Card

This week's challenge is an inspiration challenge.  Don't forget to check out the Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps blog to see the full inspiration photo and the rest of the DT's darling cards!

As soon as I saw the lanterns hanging, I knew I wanted to used Rin.  I typically use brighter and bolder colors, but I love the way Rin turned out with the softer earth colors.  So perfect for transitioning from summer into fall.

To play along in our challenge, upload a photo of your project and provide a direct link in the linky widget at the bottom of the SCRS post. If you use an online gallery (e.g. Splitcoast), please also use the Keyword SCRSC08. If you have a Facebook account and are a fan of Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps, you can also upload there. Deadline for this week's challenge is Sunday, September 5th @ 9 PM PST.

Paper: Basic Grey Capella
Stamps: Sparkle Creations, sentiment is Amuse
CTMH Brads, Nestabilities, Copics, Crystal Stickles, Pearls, and EK Success Border Punch

Our challenge is open to all players. Each week a random winner will be chosen, and this week's winner will receive the adorable Cruisin' Chloe rubber stamp. In order to qualify for a prize, you must use a Sparkle Creations image on your creation. Most importantly, have fun! We can't wait to see your creations!

Everyone have a great Tuesday!  I'm looking forward to seeing my CTMH buddies at Nona's tonight!

Little Paper Shop Challenge #83 - Color Challenge and Book Review: Dune Road

Today's challenge is a color challenge!  Don't forget to check out the Little Paper Shop blog to see the rest of the DT's darling creations.

Well, green is favorite color and I secretly have a passion for the color orange.  And you probably all already know that I almost always use a kraft base on my cards, lol.  So this color combo was awesome for me!

Paper: SU
Stamps: Little Paper Shop
Nestabilities, Copics, Prima Flowers, PTI Buttons, Pearls, and Crystal Stickles

This book is about a 40+ year old lady who is divorced and recreating a life for her and her children.  It's very dramatic, scandalous, and keeps you on the edge all the way til the end.  It has great momentum, but I will say that I was very disappointed with the ending.

One of the friends has an abusive partner and you're constantly waiting for the moment that he's just gonna beat her in front of everyone and it just doesn't come.  No one knows about him, so you're anxiously waiting for all of her friends to figure out who he is.  I know that probably sounds bad and weird, but if you read the book, you'll understand what I'm saying.

I think this book could relate to many since it's about families, co-parenting with your ex, finance, friendships, and keeping it all together.  One of the friend's husbands loses his job and they end up losing everything.  Overall, I still think it was a good book.  And honestly, I just lucked out that the cover matches my card today, lol.

Everyone have a fabulous Monday!  It's back to work for me...

Wreathabella Card and Christmas Card Challenge Week #39 - Sparkle and Shine

This week's challenge is sparkle and shine! Gotta love these ones, lol, since I typically use sparkle on my cards anyways! Don't forget to check out the Christmas Card Challenge blog to see the rest of the DT's lovely creations.

Unfortunately, capturing glitter is an art in itself, but there is tons of it on my card!  And can I make a secret confession?  Yes...I've been really busy with Sparkle Creations, so that is the real reason why I haven't been participating in the challenge.  But the second reason is...I only have about enough paper to make 2 more cards with my Eskimo Kisses.  I'm anxiously waiting for Jovial to come out! :)

I was hoping it would be at Impress while I was there yesterday, but it still hasn't come in...

Paper: Cosmo Cricket
Stamps: Stamping Bella, sentiment is Amuse
Snowflake Punches, Crystal Stickles, PTI Buttons, Copics, and Snowballs

I also used CPS #181 for this.  Well, I hope you all have a fabulous Sunday!  And don't forget...it's never too late to join in the fun!  Christmas will be here before we know it!

I'm Officially a Julie Groupie

My friend Rachel and I both moved from Denver to Seattle in 2008.  Ironically, we didn't actually meet each other til we both moved to Seattle, lol.  But Rachel is a hard core A Muse fan and has been such a bad influence on me. It's nice to blame someone else every once in awhile, since it's me who mostly gets blamed. :)

Every time Julie Ebersole comes into town, we always sign up to take her classes.  It's become our 'thing'.  So, I found out a few weeks ago that Julie is teaching class today and of course we're going.  But, she is actually teaching at Impress, not A Muse...so it'll be a different experience for us.  While Rachel knows everyone that works at A Muse...I know everyone that works at Impress, so we're pretty much covered.

I'm excited for a day of laughs, loud talking, and doing multiple rounds of shopping, as Rachel and I are notorious for.  We usually shop before class, after the first class...go eat lunch...and shop again after the 2nd class.  And this could be even scarier since Impress sells more than just A Muse stamps, lol.  What can I say?  Normally I justify my spending sprees on the fact that I rarely go to A Muse...so guess I'll just have to blame Julie this time.

I hope you all have a fabulous Saturday and are being crafty!  I'll be back tomorrow with a fun Christmas card!

Bellariffic Friday - Anything Goes Ipodabella Card and a Book Review: Smash Cut

Today's challenge is anything goes.  It was my friend Yvonne's birthday at the beginning of the month and her daughters got her a brand new purple iPod.  She asked for a thank you, since she's visiting them right now in Texas.

Obviously, I had to use Ipodabella.  Yvonne's favorite color is purple, and since she got a purple iPod, I figured I would just go with it.  With the anticipation on new Basic Grey paper, I am on the usual scurry to hurry up and use up my old stuff, lol.

Paper: Basic Grey Koishi
Stamps: Stamping Bella, sentiment is Amuse
Prima Flowers, PTI Buttons, Rhinestones, EK Success Border Punch, Copics, and Crystal Stickles

Murder mysteries and suspense books are actually my favorite.  But after reading one many months ago, I had this crazy dream that Brent and I were being chased by bad guys.  In my dream, we're running in a banquet hall in a hotel and Brent jabs this guy in the throat with a pipe, lol.  It's not funny...but just that my dream was so action movie like.  I decided to take a break and I've been reading chick lit ever since pretty much.

On our trip to Yellowstone, I decided to go back to my true love and picked this book up at the airport.  If you're a movie buff, you'll really enjoy this book.  The murderer is really into re-creating scenes from movies.  Now, there's only one death, but he does other things from certain movie scenes.

This book really keeps you on your toes and right before you get to the end, it's kindof a big turn.  He plans on killing another person, but they never really explain what a 'smash cut' really is or what the scene is suppose to be like in the movie...as obviously that person gets saved. :)  But if this type of reading is your thing, I still say it's a pretty good book.

Everyone have a fabulous Friday!  It's almost the weekend!

Pretty Cool Swimming Lucy

It's one of my friend's birthday next week and I made her this card.  I am so proud of myself, because I know she is going to be the only one this year to get their birthday card early, lol.  While I love the fall season, I don't want summer to end quite yet.  It's gonna be Christmas before I know it!

Paper: Basic Grey Origins
Stamps: Sparkle Creations, sentiment is TGF
EK Success Border Punch, PTI Buttons, Floss, Copics, Rhinestones, and Crystal Stickles

I hope you all have a great Thursday!  It's double elimination tonight on BB!

Catching Up with Life

I've been so extremely busy the last few weeks, I feel like I haven't share with you all everything that's been going on.  A couple weeks ago, I got pulled out of the office to teach a training class.  This is what I used to do when I lived and worked in Denver.  I had a full class of 10 and as always, I do miss the fun parts of teaching class.

Then on the last day of class, I had previously signed up to do a 5K.  So after a long week of teaching, I rushed after work on Friday to do the 5K.  We did it in under an hour...but I will admit we cheated.  A part of the course was in the park and there was a snow cone stand.  Yes, I got tempted and stopped.  It was so hot out and I was exhausted from teaching.  We could of gotten a much better time had we not stopped. :)

Then even more crazy as I am...I woke up at 6:30am the next morning to head down to Vancouver, Washington to attend a card making party for Operation Write Home.  My friend Sandy runs this operation and it's nice to be doing something crafty and helping out the troops.

While I was down in Vancouver, I met my life idol, Ellen.  She's an 81, dear old little lady and she can still craft as good as I can!  She loves to cut out little detail pieces of paper and she loves her Copic markers! :)  I really hope that I can still craft that well when I am that old.

Then this last week, my family came up from Portland to attend a wedding.  I was extremely excited, since this is the first time my parents have come up to visit me and see the house.  It's hard for them to travel with Em and Mike, so I totally understand.  And since Brent and I come down so much, it's just easier for us to go home most of the time.

Emily was so excited to come and see her 'big sister.'  Michael felt jealous and started to run around saying, "I too, I too!"  Gotta love kids at this age.  I really do wish I got to see them more.  And they're both going to pre-school this fall.  Just precious!  Emily - happy to see her old friends and Michael - just happy that he FINALLY gets to go with Em, lol. Last year he cried everyday because he couldn't go to school.

Finally, last Saturday one of my best friends came up from Portland to visit.  Unfortunately, I forgot to take any pictures!  Oh, my.  But I haven't seen Shannon since New Years, so we had tons to talk about.  I think I talked too much to remember to take pictures, lol.  But I've been friends with Shannon since we were roomies in college and pledged the sorority together, so I have tons of pics of us.

Here is a picture of me, Catherine, and Shannon.  With all of us living in different states (Washington, Oregon, and Washington, DC), it's rare that we're all together anymore.  But when we are, we always take a "roomies" shot.  If you were to look through my college scrapbooks, all you would see are pics of the 3 of us together, just like this, lol.  I miss my girls so much!

Anyways, I hope you all have a great hump day!  I will be back tomorrow with another Sparkle Creations card.

Christmas Card Challenge Week #38 - Vintage/Retro

I'm trying really hard to get back into making my Christmas cards.  The challenge this week is vintage or retro.  Don't forget to check out the Christmas Card Challenge blog to see the rest of my DT's lovely creations.

Vintage is not a strong point for me...but I remembered that I had these pink paislee iron-on tags and just went with it.  The sentiment is a rub-on that I put on vanilla creme paper.  It's been a long time since I've made a card with no stamping and no coloring.  And while I prefer things to be cutesy, I'm sure someone in the family will enjoy this more simple card.

Paper: SU Cardstock
Pink Paislee Tags and Rub-ons, CTMH Brads

I hope you all have a fabulous Sunday! Brent is going golfing...so I'll have the house to myself. :) Will probably watch a few movies and color images!

Last Week's Bellariffic Friday - Calliope Ketto Card

I got this done in time for Bellariffic Friday last week...but since I was doing sneak peeks for Sparkle Creations...I forgot to post it on my blog.

The challenge was bling...and with my name, you know it's my favorite thing in the world!  So here is a card with an image that I colored while I was in Yellowstone.  I guess you could say it's a fairy self portrait, lol.  This is my favorite Ketto ever though.  I also used Unscripted Sketch #67

Paper: Basic Grey Olivia
Stamps: Stamping Bella, sentiment is TGF
Nestabilities, Rhinestones, Bloomers, Copics, and Crystal Stickles

Everyone have a great Thursday.  I will be back tomorrow with this week's Bellariffic Friday card!

This week's challenge is embossing! Don't forget to check out the Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps blog to see the rest of the DT's darling cards!

While I was in Yellowstone, I brought my Olivia paper pack and 36 of my Copic markers.  I actually got quite a bit of coloring while I was there!  Now the effort is actually making cards with them, lol.  I just adore green and pink together though, so I think my card turned out just lovely.

I've been so extremely busy and honestly will be til September, lol...but I never got the chance to post about Friday night.  Nicole and I have been friends for years through CTMH, SBS4, and through blogging.  Through the years of our friendship, I moved from Colorado to Washington and she moved California to Idaho.

But her husband came out to Seattle to do some work and we finally got the chance to meet up.  I had a great time meeting her family and spending a few hours with them while eating dinner!  It's always a treat to meet my blog friends!

Everyone have a great Tuesday!  Is Brendon throwing HOH competitions or what?!?
