Miss Anya Autumn Card and 2010 Christmas Card Challenge Week #9

First, I have some important business. I decided to make a separate blog for my Christmas Card Challenges. I will still be posting my creations here every Sunday, but the actual challenge and where you post your link will be on my Christmas Card Challenges Blog.

I decided to move it now, because if the future, I will be moving things around here on my blog. I hope that you all will continue to join me on my annual Christmas card making journey and I really appreciate all of you who play along with my challenges.

Well, this week I choose to do an inspiration challenge. I've been wishing for summer weather, so I thought it would be fun to use some bright colors. I just wish I had a Santa hat for Miss Fall Anya. I also used Unscripted Sketches #39 for this.

Paper: Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses, Sugar Rush
Stamps: The Greeting Farm, sentiment is Amuse
Snowflake Punches, PTI Buttons, Rhinestones, and Crystal Stickles

If you would like to play along with me, please link your card on the Christmas Card Challenges Blog. Thanks and everyone have a fabulous Sunday!

Drucilla Card and Raise the Bar Challenge #3 - The Older the Better

The challenge at Raise the Bar this week is to use designer paper that you've had in your stash for a while. You know, like the ones Stampin' Up doesn't even remember carrying.

Well, this is the oldest SU paper I have, lol...and I must say it's a bittersweet moment. I've been holding on to Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze...and I'm still slowly saying goodbye. The hoarder in me is screaming "don't you dare cut that paper", yet the organized one in me is saying "yeah - room for new paper!" :)

Paper: SU
Stamps: Kraftin Kimmie, sentiment is Amuse
Prima Flower, PTI Button, Pearls, Copics, and Crystal Stickles

Though I'm a happy, laughing, and bubbly person (like Tinley on Bachelor), I do have an edge to me. I think it would be hilarious to send this to your boyfriend for Valentine's day. She looks so sweet and innocent with that big smile on her face. But she'll get you, so you better watch out! I do promise you all I'm not psycho...bwaha, ha, ha.

Everyone have a fabulous Saturday! I will be up in Lynnwood celebrating Jenn's and Rachel's belated birthdays and then we'll all be crafting!

Farm Fresh Friday - Marie's "Monochromatic Madness" Challenge

This week's challenge is to create a card using a monochromatic color scheme (You may use white or cream cardstock for your main image panel). Don't forget to check out TGF Blog to see the rest of the Design Team's gorgeous creations!

Paper: Basic Grey Origins
Stamps: The Greeting Farm, sentiment is Amuse
Prima Flowers, PTI Buttons, Copics, Nestabilities, CB Embossing Folder, and Crystal Stickles

Well, here is another image that will be released on the 1st. This challenge was pretty hard for me, since I had to use this critter. Well, brown seemed appropriate...would you of liked a pink fox, lol? And lucky for me, I have plenty of Copics to help me out. :)

Everyone have a fabulous Friday! It's almost the weekend!

Sweet Wishes My Sweetheart

Today we're starting sneak peeks of the new sets that will be released on February 1st. Don't forget to check out TGF Blog to see the rest of the Design Team's lovely creations.

Paper: Basic Grey Sugar Rush
Stamps: TGF Sweet Tooth, sentiment is WOJ
PTI Ribbon and Buttons, Twine, Rhinestones, Nestabilities, Crystal Stickles and Copics

As soon as Marie sent me this set, I just thought these little monkeys were just cute as can be. I haven't really used my embossing folders lately, so I ran my red panel through my heart folder. Sadly, those little heart rhinestones have been unused since I bought them a year ago. I also used Mojo Monday Sketch #122.

Everyone have a fabulous Thursday! What's up with re-runs tonight?!?

Toby Cub

Here's leg 3 of the TGF CHA Relay Race. I think I'm starting to lose my mojo, lol. I don't craft well under pressure. I told Brent I don't craft quick enough to make a really nice card from scratch in a limited time.

But I will say it's been pretty neat to see about 1/2 of my Google Reader filled with cards of the same image. It's been fun to see how we each use the same image so differently. I also used Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #58.

Paper: SU
Stamps: The Greeting Farm, sentiment is Amuse
Prima Flowers, PTI Buttons, EK Success Border Punch, Thickers, Rhinestones, Crystal Stickles, and Copics

Everyone have a great hump day! I can't wait to get Prince Ian next!

Charlotte

Mercy must be a night owl like me...because Charlotte was in my email at 12:10am on Monday morning. :) Since I usually stay up late, I appreciated the little head start. I wanted to do something fun, so I decided on hot pink! I really hope that Marie will turn her into rubber!

Paper: My Minds Eye Abbey's Road
Stamps: The Greeting Farm, sentiment is Amuse
Pearls, Copics, Crystal Stickles, Nestabilities, CTMH Buttons, Rhinestones, and MS Border Punch

Well, I hope you all have a great Tuesday. I'm excited for Idol and Biggest Loser. Lots of drama going down, lol. I heart Bob and Jillian!

Mer Ian Inkin' of You Card

I have to warn you all up front, my postings for this week may come at weird times. I'm going to try and keep pace with TGF CHA Relay Race. I'm naturally a planner...as I make ALL my cards for the week and I plan and schedule all my posts. So obviously this relay race has left me a little anxious, lol.

Well, I started with Club Anya and Friends Sketch #3. But then I thought a scalloped edge would be too girly. And I didn't want to put Ian into a heart shape. So I settled and added a little heart after. I always try to make my guy cards a little less frilly, since I can get carried away with flowers, ribbon, and glitter. :)

Paper: My Minds Eye Bloom and Grow
Stamps: The Greeting Farm, sentiment is AmyR
PTI Ribbon, Nestabilties, Copics, Crystal Stickes, and PTI Buttons

Everyone have a fabulous Monday. It's back to work for me...and can't wait for the Bachelor!

2010 Christmas Card Challenge Week #8

This week's challenge: No Coloring! You can use different colored ink pads, but no coloring "in". That means no markers, colored pencils, chalks, etc.

Well, I bought this Bo Bunny paper originally for my Daily December album. Since I haven't used it...thought I would be more productive and use it for a card. I seriously can't remember the last time I created a card without my Copics...(I actually can, my dad's retirement card, lol) so making this was actually a real challenge for me. And I made another matching tag this week.

Paper: Pink Paislee
Stamps: Amuse
Pink Paislee Mistletoe Press Ons, K&Co Chipboard Snowflake

Paper: SU Cardstock, Bo Bunny
Stamps: Amuse
K&Co Chipboard Snowflake, Pink Paislee Mistletoe Borderlines

Mr. Linky Note: Please link directly to the blog post or gallery page where we can view/comment on your creation and not just the generic link to your blog. To get the full url, click the title of your blog post (which will load a page that has just that post on it), then copy and paste the URL into the Mr. Linky form. Thanks and please still post a comment so I know you added a card!

Everyone have a great Sunday! I will be cleaning and crafting!

Allboxedupabella Card and Raise the Bar Challenge #2 - The Gift That Keeps on Giving

Eeek...did you see the sneak peeks of the new Basic Grey paper?!? There's 5 new sets coming out this weekend at CHA! Glad I'm using up all my old paper so I can stock up on these, lol.

I just kept going and going with this card...and now I don't know if I even really like it, lol. The challenge this week for Raise the Bar is to use something that was gifted to you. We had over 70 entries on our debut last week so thanks to everyone for playing with us! I think my Bella gets lost in all the bling...but I think it's still a fun and festive card somewhat.

Paper: Basic Grey Origins
Stamps: Stamping Bella, sentiment is Amuse, flourishes are CTMH
Rhinestones, Copics, PTI Ribbon, PTI Buttons, Twine, Crystal Stickles, and Nestabilities

I hope you all have a great Saturday. Both of my BILs and their SOs are staying at our house tonight. We're going to the junior team hockey game - Seattle versus Portland. We've been rival for decades...and since we're really Portland-ers, we're rooting for the Winter Hawks!

Farm Fresh Friday - Jess's "Sunshine-y Sendoff" Challenge

Celebrate CHA week with Marie and Jess while they trek to sunny Cali to attend Winter CHA! This week's challenge is to create a summer themed card. Don't forget to check out the TGF blog to see the rest of the Design Team's lovely creations.

I'm sooooooooo jealous of everyone going to CHA. Especially my friends Amy, Shaela, and Kim! {I keep reminding myself that I will be in Vancouver at the Olympics in 4 weeks.} But in all seriousness...I'm very excited for Marie and Jessica to be there. I also have a few cards that will be there...so if you're going, stop by the TGF table to say hi and sneak a peak at my art. :)

Paper: Sassafras Lollipop
Stamps: The Greeting Farm, sentiment is Amuse
Prima Flowers, PTI Buttons, Twine, CTMH Bigger Brads, Copics, Rhinestones, and Nestabilities

I'm not a "yellow" person...but sun-shiney screams yellow, and I instantly thought of this fabbie Sassafras paper. Funny thing is, I pulled out these 3 pieces and that's ALL I had left, lol. So I put them to good use and did you notice I switched to yellow thread?

Everyone have a fabulous Friday! It's almost the weekend!

Where I Shop...

The most popular question I get asked is where I buy things from. Actually, I take that back, everyone always asks if Sparkle is my real name at some point. :) I thought I would make a post with all the items and store links and add this post to my link bar on top of my blog so you can always just click on it.

If I'm forgetting something, comment and I'll keep updating this! Thanks.

Black Ink
  • I personally use Brilliance Graphite Black ink for my images that I color with my Copics. I buy the ink refills at Impress Rubber Stamps, but you can buy this kind of ink almost anywhere, including Michael's.
  • Another ink I really like is Amuse's. The only con is that it is still a water-based ink, so it runs when I use my Stickles. But this dries much quicker than the Brillance.
  • Others like and use Memento ink...but it smells funny to me, lol. The smell bothered me too much to keep using it -- but it does stamps well. I think I bought my pad at Amuse, as the ever so famous Julie Ebersole uses it with her Copics.
Buttons
Cardstock
  • Since I use to be a CTMH Consultant, I am currently using CTMH white cardstock. I haven't had any issues with it with my Copics and that's what I color all my images on.
  • For something cheaper, some use Georgia Pacific, which you can buy at Walmart and Sam's Club.
Copics
  • Merri Artist - More expensive, but the best availability and the fastest shipping.
  • Oozak - This is where I personally bought most of my markers from, but that was before the prices got raised in early 2009.
Nestabilities
  • Impress Rubber Stamps - If I don't want to wait for shipping...I get them locally here in the Seattle area. They do sell all their items online as well if you're not a Washingtonian.
  • Ritz Camera - This is the cheapest place around for single sets.
  • U Cut At Home - If you're buying the basic shapes, signing up for the monthly 40% coupon and getting the sets of 4 together is the best price for sets.
Paper
  • Thienthanh - This is an Etsy store. She sells sample packs of 6x6 paper. This is perfect for card makers! You can buy tons of paper and not have to buy full sets.
Prima Flowers
  • Island Scrapbooking - This is an Ebay store, but please don't be leery of it. She has some of the best prices and she ships quickly! The thing I love the most is that she sells sample packs, so you can buy a great variety without buying the whole flower packs.
Stamps
  • All That Scraps - since they sell a variety of stamps, I buy stamps from CC Designs, Kraftin Kimmie, and Whiff of Joy from here.
Snowflake Punches
  • The snowflake punches I use are actually Marvy, but I bought them from Papertrey Ink to match their stamp sets Snowfall and Snowfall Additions.

Balloonabella Card

I've own this bella ever since she came out years ago...but I think I've only used her a couple of times. I hope you're not sick of my Sugar Rush paper...since I ran out of white thread, I've just been using stuff that matches my red. :) But for the rest of the week I used some other colors too...I might never go back to white, lol. I also used Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #52.

Paper: Basic Grey Sugar Rush
Stamps: Stamping Bella, sentiment is Amuse
Prima Flowers, PTI Buttons, Twine, Copics, Crystal Stickles, and MS Border Punch

Everyone have a great Thursday! I'm so excited for Grey's and Private Practice!

You Rock Chelsea!

I'm becoming a fan of using up my scraps, lol. I layered all of these leftover strips together to make my background and did some simple stitching. I totally love my heart nestabilities! This card would make a good gift card holder for an iTunes card.

Paper: Basic Grey Sugar Rush
Stamps: The Greeting Farm, sentiment is Stamping Bella
Nestabilities, Copics, PTI Buttons, EK Success Border Punch, and Rhinestones

Everyone have a great hump day! It's another night of Idol auditions.

Lulu Ketto Card

I'm slowly working through my pile of un-inked stamps. I found a few more, {sigh}, when I was cleaning up my room, but I do see the light at the end of the tunnel! Other goals I've added to my list is to use up more of the stuff I already have and spend 1/2 of what I spent last year on crafting.

I rarely color images prior to picking paper, but this little one was colored months ago! I finally worked it all out and I love the orange and green together! I used Get Sketchy #21 for this too.

Paper: Basic Grey Sugar Rush
Stamps: Stamping Bella, sentiment is Amuse
CTMH Brads, Prima Flowers, Basic Grey Buttons, Copics, and Crystal Stickles

Everyone have a fabulous Tuesday! Excited for Idol and Biggest Loser!

Oh, Susana Thank You Card

It's another bright one today! I forgot how much I actually really like my Lime Rickey paper. Isn't Suzi just darling in her fun and sassy outfit? I also used Sketch #2 from Club Anya and Friends. I'm super excited that they're doing sketch challenges on Saturdays now!

Paper: Basic Grey Lime Rickey
Stamps: The Greeting Farm, sentiment is Amuse
Rhinestones, Nestabilities, Copics, PTI Ribon, PTI Buttons, Twine, and CTMH Brads

I hope you all have a great Monday...it's back to work for me. Can't wait for Bachelor tonight!

2010 Christmas Card Challenge Week #7

This week's challenge: Sketch Challenge! Use this sketch to make any Christmas, Holiday, or Winter card. The heart represents an embellishment, so you can use whatever you want for that.

Since I made making tags one of my resolutions for 2010, here's my first one. I had a mini craft crisis, I ran out of white thread. So I switched to red...but that also meant I had to make all of my cards match the red this week! :) I do plan on going to Joann's soon, so I will have plenty of white thread.

Card
Paper: Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses
Stamps: CC Designs, sentiment is PTI
Snowflake Punches, PTI Buttons, Copics, and Crystal Stickles

Raise the Bar Challenge #1 - Debut Day

Yesterday was our debut day on the Raise the Bar challenge blog. Our challenge this week is to create a card with something that you purchased and have not used before.

Well, first I swapped images for this stamp...and then finally gave in and bought her. I've had her for a few months now and I'm finally just getting around to using her. I also used Mojo Monday #121 and my endless stack of Basic Grey paper for my card. But don't get me wrong...I love my BG paper.

Paper: Basic Grey Eva
Stamps: CC Designs, sentiment is Amuse
Prima Flowers, PTI Buttons, Copics, Crystal Stickles, and Rhinestones

I hope you all have a fabulous Saturday! Brent and I are going to clean and be lazy, lol. The movie was wonderful and I have a feeling that in the future all Brent will want to watch are movies in 3D. :) We're not the Sci-fi type at all, so I will say that the story lacked a little bit for me...but the graphics were gorgeous.

Fresh Farm Friday - "Kim's Picture This" Challenge

Today's FFF challenge is to use and/or incorporate a PHOTO into your card or project, or you can make a scrapbook layout. It's up to you. Don't forget to check out The Greeting Farm blog to see the rest of the Design Team's beautiful work.

Well, I haven't scrapbooked in months...so I made a card with a photo. This was hard, because I don't print photos unless I scrap...so I had to scrounge for a photo to use. :) I know these have been around for-evah, but I just got my heart nestabilities on Tuesday. I was excited to find out last month that they sell these locally at Impress.

Paper: Basic Grey Lemonade
Stamps: The Greeting Farm, sentiment is Amuse
Prima Flowers, PTI Buttons, Copics, Crystal Stickles, and Nestabilities

Everyone have a fabulous Friday! I'm going to see Avatar tonight with the hubby in IMAX 3-D, so it should be an experience, lol. It's almost the weekend!

Little Miss Ruby Sunshine

Sorry peeps, you're gonna need your sunglasses for this one. I'm almost done using up the rest of my Lime Rickey paper too. I used my scraps to make strips and then used my sewing machine.

I'm tempted to give this to Emily (my mini-me/sister), since her birthday is the 28th. But I think Stella looks more like her and Emily is so into Cinderella right now, she'll probably want a princess card. :) Oh the joys of turning 4.

Paper: Basic Grey Lime Rickey
Stamps: The Greeting Farm, sentiment is PTI
CTMH Bigger Brads, Copics, Prima Flowers, Twine, PTI Buttons, and Crystal Stickles

Everyone have a fabulous Thursday! I love it when they mix Grey's and Private Practice together. I just miss Addison being part of the Grey's cast.

Jugglabella I Heart You Card

I think I have a confession to make...Valentine's Day is secretly my favorite holiday. I only say that because I've been going through all my stamps, and I seriously have more love/valentine stamps than any other kind. And I make birthday/Christmas cards the most.

But this Bella is no exception. She's probably my favorite "love" Bella of all time. The grey looks a bit darker than it does in real life, but I think it's a good combo with the red and orange. Can you believe that Valentine's Day is pretty much a month away?!?

Paper: Basic Grey Sugar Rush
Stamps: Stamping Bella
Prima Flowers, PTI Buttons, Crystal Stickles, Copics, and Rhinestones

Everyone have a great hump day! I'm so excited for Grey's and Private Practice to be back on tomorrow!

Yoga Anya

First off, did you see that I made Taylor's Top Crops?!? I barely got my card done in time last week, so I never imagined it getting picked, lol. But it totally made my day!

I personally don't do yoga, though I probably should. I tried in college and I didn't like it. But I still love this cute little Anya. I'm still using up my scraps, so putting this card together was a bit complicated for me...but I think it came together okay.

Paper: Basic Grey Marrakech
Stamps: The Greeting Farm, sentiment is MFT
Prima Flowers, PTI Buttons, Rhinestones, Copics, and MS Border Punch

Everyone have a great Tuesday! Who's excited for Idol? I can't decide if I'm taping Idol or Biggest Loser...

Gossipabella Happy Belated Birthday Card

I was so excited when this new Bella came out last month! I've had her since before I left to go Portland, but so far I'm doing pretty good. I got her inked in less than a month of sitting on my desk. :)

I'm still trying to use up my endless stack of paper. Though it's really bright, Lime Rickey is another one of my BG favs. This card is for my friend Rachel, who's birthday was last Wednesday.

Paper: Basic Grey
Stamps: Stamping Bella, sentiment is Amuse
Copics, Prima Flowers, Rhinestones, PTI Buttons, Twine, and Crystal Stickles

I hope you all have a great Monday! It's back to work for me...then Bachelor!

On a side note, I'm so excited because one of my Denver trainee's got promoted to Branch Manager. She's my third one (to start as a Teller and work their way up) and she'll be here in Seattle all week. Sorry, just gotta toot my own horn on this one. These are the awesome peeps that make me miss teaching. The difficult ones make me appreciate my office job now, lol.

News, News...and Book Review: No Shortcuts to the Top

If you're looking for my Christmas Card Challenge, just scroll down to the post below. Though it was late, I did get my card up. :)

I'm very excited to tell you all that starting this Friday, I have joined the Design Team for Raise the Bar. It's a challenge blog and there will be weekly challenges on Fridays. I met Joni while she was a Guest Designer on Club Anya (and Friends) during my summer term as a Gardener. I was very honored when she asked me to join this team.

Since I'm also guest designing for The Greeting Farm until the end of February, my Raise the Bar posts will be on Saturdays. :)

I've been done with this book for a bit, but I just haven't had time to write about it. At our Manager's Conference this year, our keynote speaker was Ed Viesturs. He's a famous mountain climber. Well, he wrote a book about climbing the highest 14 peaks in the world and gave all of us a free copy of his book. Though this isn't my kind of reading at all, it was a free book, lol.

It was a little hard to get into at first, since I don't know a thing about mountain climbing. But after you figure out what all the tools and terms are, lol, it's a very interesting story. I actually got quite intrigued in his adventures and I learned a ton about this sport.

I don't expect anyone to actually read this, lol...but if you need a book idea for a sports guy, this might be a good present. Next on my list is the Informant. Brent and I watched this movie, but I'm interested in what I will learn from reading the book. And Brent surprised me at Christmas with getting me the Blindside, so I have plenty to read for awhile. :)

2010 Christmas Card Challenge Week #6 - Snowbunnybella Card

Thanks to everyone who plays the challenges with me! It's always nice to see all the lovely Christmas cards you're making. I used Random.org and it picked #11, so Pat is my winner. I will send out a goodie to you soon.

This week's challenge: Dry Embossing! Use any dies or folders to emboss an image or background on your card.

I keep all my Christmas stuff separate from the rest of my stuff. I was scrounging and found these random parts. I hope you're not getting tired of my zigzag stitches, lol, because I think you'll be seeing a lot of them. Plus, I love this Bella, so even more fun.

Paper: Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses
Stamps: Stamping Bella, sentiment is Amuse
Snowflake Punches, Crystal Stickles, PTI Buttons, Snowflake CB Embossing Folder, and Copics
