Enjoy the Moment for Alanna and Book Review: One For the Money

Back in February I posted this and so far I've only gotten one card done. I've been thinking about what I was going to make for Alanna for a looooong time. :) I love Alanna's CAS style, but after she commented on my last Sarah Kay card, I knew this was what I wanted to make for her. I don't own this Sarah Kay stamp...but Arlene was so sweet to send me some images of her. I might have to break down and get her at some point. I also used Jen del Muro's Sketch For You to Try from a couple weeks ago.

Paper: My Minds Eye Abbey's Road
Stamps: Sarah Kay, sentiment is PTI
Prima Flowers, PTI Buttons, Pearls, Crystal Stickles, Nestabilites, and Copics

I'm still not done with Never Eat Alone. It's an easy read, but it's made me ponder on some stuff, so I decided to take a break and read something else. I love murder mysteries and suspense, so I decided to try One For the Money, which is part of the Stephanie Plum series. Overall, I was pretty disappointed in it and will not be reading the rest of the series.

It's about how Stephanie loses her job and starts working as a Bounty Hunter for her cousin, because she needs money to pay rent. I don't know that much about Bounty Hunters...but seems too unrealistic for me. The style of writing is light and witty, but it doesn't match up well when it comes to the darker parts like rape, shooting, etc.

Everyone have a great hump day! Who are your Top 20 favorites so far? I hate how I love people who don't make it or leave. I was so sad that Paula didn't take it and sad that Billy Bell won't be on it anymore. But I was really happy for Pauline, since she almost made Season 5.

  7. Great card! I am reading Mary Kay Andrews books, they are set in current time in the south. They are a little mystery mixed in with love story. They are really good :) Just a thought if you are looking for something.
    Have a great day.

  12. Wonderful creation, Sparkle! Your coloring is awesome, and you have a gift for combining colors!

And yes, I'm glad Pauline got to stay. Her solo was just ok, but she was great during the top 20 performance.

  15. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Okay you have to read book 2. The first book sucks and it isn't a good representation of the series. I seriously LOVE this series. You really get to know the characters better - and there are lots of laugh out loud moments in the other books.

ps... your card is darling! :)

  17. I love the colours you used. What a lovely card, I wish I had some Sarah Kay stamps too, bbut sadly they are not available in South Africa (like most of the other devine stamps you guys can buy!) and with postage as bad as it is, it is just not worth trying to get some.

  18. a beautiful card using an adorable image! I can't stand murder mysteries. And I hate scary movies. When I was in middle school I read The Dark and Deadly Pool and I couldn't sleep for months! lol. Needless to say I never read another murder mystery book, and don't ever plan to. :)

  19. Beautiful card as always, Spoarkle!
I Tivo'd it and haven't watched yet because it's not my DH's cup of tea - what, what ,what!?? Billy Bell is gone?! Ok, off to watch now to see how THIS happened!! He was one of my early faves, along with Russel and Tap Girl! I still miss Marc from 2 years ago though!! :-)Traci

  20. Your card is gorgeous, I love the colors you used. Glad you liked the images. Can't figure out why my blog won't 'feed' to say it's been updated, especially since I've update a couple of times this past week? Any ideas?

I agree, book one of that series stunk, but they do get better as previously mentioned. Great for a good laugh.

  28. Sparkle,
I love the Stephanie Plum series. That being said I have never been able to finish book one. My mom got me hooked by playing book 12 on her iPod in the car. (Captive audience) As I understand it the books don't get really good until after book 6. My favorites are 12, 8, 10, and the newest 15 is awesome all the way up until the end which makes me pout. Try one of the later book and forget about the first 5 or 6. Love the card as always!

  30. Oh wow, the colors are striking on this, love the combo...a gorgeous card! Too bad about Billy, hopefully he can come back next year. My favs are Jakob, Karen, Ryan, Russell and Ellynore so far.

  31. Super cute! :)

My favorites are usually the underdog - this year: the Krumper Russell. I think it's awesome that he's really good and he has no formal training! :)

  32. I liked the Stephanie Plum series because they are light, quick reads. If I'm wanting true murder/mystery, I read James Patterson. His books are pretty gruesome, but I love them anyway :)
